Why are we doing this?

From our own experience we know how challenging it is to follow the daily routine for CF patients. Although the progression is often unpredictable, patients themselves can positively influence it by adhering to treatment and lifestyle choices. The goal of CF Hero application is to make long inhalations and respiratory rehabilitations that the patients have to undergo every day more efficient and effective.

A number of experts and patients were involved in the application

CF Hero - mobilní aplikace pomáhající zlepšit život lidem s cystickou fibrózou - obrazek "Kyslika"

Physicians, physiotherapists and psychologists from CF centres have been involved in designing the mechanics of CF Hero. We collaborated with habit-building specialists.

At various stages of the project, we tested the app concepts and then the app with selected CF patients, incorporating their feedback into the current version of CF Hero.

“Our daughter was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis right after she was born. I was thinking over for a long time how to help the community affected by this disease. An idea was born and a few months later I founded a project with Honza and the Czech Cystic Fibrosis Club, which we are pushing forward. Personally, I focus mainly on the conceptual development of the app, negotiations with project partners and making sure that everything works well in the team. ”

“I have lived with CF for more than 40 years and I try to share my experience with other patients. I want to help optimize treatment and motivate CF patients. CF Hero app combines all these efforts, since the fall of 2016 I have been working with Marek and other great people in the team to improve the CF Hero application. My motto is “Keep inhaling and rehab until you feel well.” (It may often take as much as 4 hours a day). Only an active and well-informed patient can fight CF successfully. My role is to spread know-how regarding illness, equipment, treatment and research in the CF community, to communicate within the community and with experts on CF topics, web design and administration, and partially to work on graphics and fundraising. I have experience participating in clinical trials, I am a member of the SAWP at EMA.”

I joined CF Hero in February 2021 to help with UX of the app alongside my studies.

CF Hero is close to my heart because it’s a meaningful project which literally prolongs lives. On top of that, it allows me to work with incredible people who live and breathe for the same cause.

Together with Kuba we develop new concepts for features and app mechanics and then I design them. Throughout the whole process I involve and talk to children with CF, our end users, so the whole app is easy to use and fulfils their needs.
